The documentary Scheherazade’s Diary, filmed during and after the ten-month drama therapy/theater project set up in 2012 in Baabda prison by drama therapist and director Zeina Daccache offers an insight into women inmates in the Baabda prison and their struggle in a patriarchal society.
The women in the documentary through theater performances tell their stories and life stories.
A discussion followed after the screening, where the audience discussed and tried to contextualize the stories they heard throughout the documentary with the context in Kosovo, and what women inmates and women who are imprisoned are marginalized and oppressed, usually by being held into custody for too long without being sentenced. Besides young politicians who are members of PYN member parties, there were also participants from youth branches of other parties, as well as students and young human rights activists.
