Last Thursday, November 21st, we hosted our fourth and final webinar of the series, featuring Maja Krištafor who held a lecture on “How to Successfully Build Your Personal Brand.” The session offered practical insights and actionable strategies for creating a strong personal brand, addressing common myths, challenges, and tools to help participants stand out offline and online.
One key takeaway was the myth that simply having an active profile on social media is enough to build a personal brand. Maja explained that many people consume content without creating or engaging, which limits their visibility. To stand out, it’s important to actively post and interact with your audience.
Another significant point was overcoming self-doubt. Maja noted that self-doubt, especially among women, often leads people to believe they are “not good enough.” Confidence, paired with regular interaction on social media, is crucial for breaking through this barrier.
Personal branding, Maja emphasized, is not just about self-promotion. It’s about forming meaningful connections. Being authentic and kind in your interactions can help create a lasting and impactful personal brand. When asked about dealing with hate comments, her advice was to stay strong and true to yourself, as authenticity is your best tool for handling negativity.
Maja also shared practical tools for personal branding. She recommended starting with a SWAT analysis to identify your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Reflecting on these factors and seeking feedback from friends, family, and colleagues can provide valuable insights into your unique qualities.
The webinar included an exercise to define a target persona. This involves identifying your audience based on factors like gender, hobbies, interests, and the challenges they face. Knowing your audience allows you to tailor your content to their needs effectively.
Another key tool discussed was the Unique Value Proposition (UVP), a concise statement that highlights what makes you unique. Maja encouraged participants to practice crafting their UVP with friends and family, aiming for clarity and brevity. A strong UVP can be a powerful way to pitch your brand to potential audiences or collaborators.
Participants engaged in hands-on activities throughout the session. These exercises included reflecting on how they perceive themselves, defining their audience based on key interests and needs, and refining their personal branding message. These activities were designed to help attendees apply the concepts and gain confidence in building their personal brand.
In conclusion, Maja Krištafor’s session underscored that personal branding is about authenticity, connection, and consistency. Tools like SWAT analysis and audience profiling, combined with kindness and perseverance, can help anyone create a meaningful and lasting personal brand.
